I joined the wonderful team of Barkhill Dental Clinic in 2014. However, I have been working in the dental industry since I was 17 years old. I initially started out as a dental nurse but after falling in love with dentistry and becoming passionate about gum disease, I decided that I wanted to have a slight change in career path and further my knowledge into the world of dental hygiene.
Therefore in 2009, I embarked on a BSc in Oral Health Science and qualified with distinction. Upon qualifying and still eager to learn more, I completed a take home and in house whitening course and I regularly attend a wide range of dental courses to remain up to date.
I am more passionate than ever about gum disease and I enjoy the more hands on role of patient care and revel in helping to improve and maintain patients’ dental health. It is difficult to pin point what the most rewarding part of my job is, as there are too many to count. However, one of the most gratifying parts is building up a good rapport with my patients and the excellent results that can be gained from gum disease treatment when the patients get on board with their oral hygiene regime. It is also priceless seeing a patient’s glowing face when they see the end result of their smile makeover or the improvement in their lifestyle from implants and I often find that they have gained more confidence which is a wonderful thing to be a part of.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, especially my two young nieces. I have recently bought my first house with my partner. Making it habitable and improving the garden has taken up a large amount of my time recently. With any free time away from the house, I enjoy going out for meals, seeing comedians live, reading and walking.
