Periodontics is a dental specialty that deals with the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of gum disease.
It is well established that general health is reflected in your gums. By looking after your gums we can reduce the risk of bacteria entering your bloodstream via your mouth. As part of a healthy lifestyle, and treatment protocols developed by Jan Lindhe (author of Clinical Periodontology and Implant Dentistry) we can reduce the impact of this disease and help you get better oral health. When gum problems occur a more thorough clean is required to tackle bacterial plaque and any solidified plaque or tartar (calculus) which may be present and could harbour infections. Depending on the severity of the periodontal disease we use different protocols to successfully get it under control. Due to the therapist’s and hygienist’s extensive training they are swift and efficient when it comes to detecting any signs of the commencement of (severe) gum diseases. We offer treatments such as scaling and root planning to tackle any gum disease.
