Do you suffer from sensitive teeth? Or are your teeth feeling cold temperatures more than usual?
Sensitive teeth can be due to the recession of gums and thus exposure of areas of the tooth that were previously covered by gums or due to loss of hard tooth tissue, for example thinning of enamel or even dentine exposure. Enamel and possibly dentine loss can occur because of a variety of factors like erosion (tooth wear due to acid), abrasion (tooth wear through mechanical forces) or attrition (tooth to tooth wear), all of which we will look at and discuss with you. Certain toothpastes can help, or if there is a lot of tissue loss it may be worthwhile considering having a splint manufactured, or teeth or tooth areas covered with a white dental filling or other types of restorations.
