Periodontics
Mobile Teeth
Your teeth may become mobile if they are affected by periodontal disease. Rigorous therapy can help tighten up teeth affected by this terrible disease.
Fresh Breath/Bleeding Gums
Bad breath and bleeding of the gums are signs that your gums are unhealthy and you may have gingivitis or periodontal disease. Treatment can normally eliminate these signs and this prevents the disease progressing, making teeth mobile and leading to their loss.
Prevention
Primary prevention of dental disease can only occur if your personal home hygiene plan is good enough to control the bacteria in your mouth.
Homecare
We will guide you as to the best ways of taking care of yourself on a daily basis. Your dentist or therapist will carefully monitor the effectiveness of your ‘homecare’.
Non-Surgical Therapy
A high percentage of people have some active gum disease. Thorough cleaning of the teeth below gum level as well as above is painless but highly effective in helping to achieve a healthy mouth. Excellent homecare ensures its maintenance.
Surgical Therapy
On rare occasions we employ surgical techniques to treat protracted disease. We use protocols advised by Professor Jan Linde, the well known periodontist from Gothenburg, Sweden.
Bone Regeneration
When needed and indicated we may be able to replace bone around teeth destroyed by periodontal disease.
Grafting
When indicated, bone transplants can be used predictably to replace bone lost due to disease. Gum tissue can also be grafted around teeth and implants to improve their stability and health.
Maintenance
To stay healthy, we will advise you on a regular maintenance programme tailored to your needs.
